*Durga is one of the principle aspects of Mahadevi. Also known as Shakti she is the protective mother of the universe. She is associated with power, protection, strength, energy, and motherhood. Her legend centers around combating evils and demonic forces that threaten peace Durga is believed to unleash her divine wrath against the wicked for the liberation of the oppressed and entails destruction to empower creation.

Durga is often seen riding a lion or tiger, with many arms each carrying a weapon and often defeating demons. She is the primordial creator of the universe.

Certified Senior Embodyoga® Teacher, Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher, and Realization Process® Meditation Teacher.

Katherine is a dedicated Embodyoga® teacher and a long-time student of the grace and wisdom of Patty Townsend. Katherine bows to the brilliance of Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen and Body-Mind Centering® where she learned how the differentiation of our anatomy underlies unity and how our embryological development is the foundation for all movement. Katherine's meditation teaching and practices are continually inspired by the deep insight and understanding of Judith Blackstone and The Realization Process®. And Katherine's appreciation of yogic philosophy comes from Rajanaka Yoga and Douglas Brooks.

In her yoga classes Katherine endeavors to provide a safe and nurturing experience for beginners, advanced students, and students with physical limitations alike. By honoring the individual she guides students toward strength, flexibility, and awareness, and an embodied sense of self. Katherine especially appreciates the way a regular yoga practice has helped her relax into change.

Katherine has created the training program "Teaching Yoga with Awareness: Emobodyoga® for Assisting Recovery from Eating Disorders".

Eating disorders are behaviors related to how we nourish ourselves. They are not a “food problem” but a problem of awareness. There is a fundamental disconnect from self. “Teaching with Awareness: Embodyoga® for Assisting Recovery from Eating Disorders”  is a program developed by Katherine Tancredi out of her long experience teaching yoga, for both adolescents and adults, at Walden Behavioral Care, a treatment center for eating disorders. This manual will guide you in learning the importance of language, class structure, and interpersonal dynamics in relating to at-risk populations. We can unconsciously express messages that trigger disordered eating or perpetuate harmful body-image issues. Additionally, how we inhabit our own bodies is a part of the dialogue in breaking the cycle of eating disorders and supporting positive body image. Included in the manual are Embodyoga® practices and movement templates that help bring us, and our students into wholeness, to fully inhabit and nourish ourselves and find the deep comfort that lies within. Yoga teachers will find the program invaluable but all educators, coaches, and councilors will find useful information and practical easy to follow exercises for any level of physical ability.  Digital Downloads of the manual are for sale at the Embodyoga® website.
